For anyone who sees Search Dog's Raven, it's no surprise that Allex loves dogs. However, you should also know that she loves animals.

Allex Michael: "Dolls were never my thing, as a kid. My favorite toys were animal figures and stuffed animals. I also loved watching animals on tv. My mom taught me to read when I was two, and we read from this huge book about animals, so maybe that's when it started."

Allex also loves music. Her favorite music varies.

Allex Michael: "I love music, and my favorites range from classical to pop rock. Any well written song with a good tune and a good voice. I also like at least three or four songs from the top ten, which is why I like listening to the radio. They play songs that I may not listen to otherwise. Plus hearing a song, before knowing the artist, is a really good way to evaluate a tune."

Often the designated driver for her father, taking over the steering wheel from the age of about eight, Allex really enjoys driving. Allex Michael: "I learned on a manual transmission (stick shift) and can drive just about any vehicle. But now I work so much that there isn't much time to drive. Maybe once or twice a month. Plus time wise now, it's becoming more practical for me to work while someone else drives.;"

As reflected in her stories, Allex loves science. She tries to keep up on the latest science journals, finding a great deal of inspiration for new films and book ideas. She enjoys PBS type programming like NOVA and tries to listen to the Science Friday Podcast.
